New Music Friday: J-Crush
New Music Friday: J-Crush
My pal, Hank, over at Binary Star Music, introduced me to J-Crush when his first single was released. I liked it so much, I suggested featuring him here on the blog as an interview! If you haven’t downloaded “Rollercoaster Love,” yet, you are missing out on a very happy upbeat dance-until-you-drop summer song. And best of all? He’s an indie artist! How can you not love that?
J-Crush – Rollercoaster Love by JCrushMusic
On with the interview…
Why J-Crush (what’s the origin of the name)? And where are you from?
Well the “J” comes from my name Josh and the “Crush” because well, I love it when the ladies Crush on me! Haha! I was born in Miami, FL but grew up and currently live in Atlanta, GA.
If you could have a conversation about music with a current performer, who would it be?
Definitely Pitbull. His music has a great rhythmic flow and it’s very high energy. As a drummer, I’m drawn to that and I try to bring those elements to my music as well.
What about a performer that has passed away, what would you like to ask?
I would have to say Celia Cruz, and I would ask her which she enjoyed listening to most while she performed, the brass or percussion. Also, how in the world did she come up with the idea for that colored hair!
What do you consider is the hardest part of your job?
Honestly, getting the music out to new ears and potential fans. Thankfully, there are bloggers like yourself, that love discovering new music and new artists. The support of the blogging community is just invaluable.
If you could play ANY venue in the world, what would it be, and why?
Madison Square Garden, “The Garden”! The prestige and history of the place and of all the amazing artists that have performed there is unbelievable. I’ve watched many concerts from “The Garden” on T.V. and the energy is always crazy.
Do you dream about making music? If not, what do you dream about?
Always! If it’s not about making music, then it’s about performing. I love feeding off the energy of a crowd, of the fans and creating more than anything… a feeling, not just a show experience.
Do you have any hobbies, aside from making music?
Anything that deals with sports, I’m there. Basketball and football are by far my favorites. I also enjoy anything that is water-oriented, such as beaches, pools, or water parks… and don’t forget about them ladies in the summer time!
What are the top 10 songs on your iPod right now?
Down On Me (Jeremih), Got My Own Steps (Roscoe Dash), Toma (Pitbull), I’m Sprung (T-Pain), 6 Foot 7 Foot- (Lil Wayne), Ojos Que No Ven (Alexis y Fido), Massive Attack (Nicki Minaj), Krazy (Pitbull), Dirty Bit (Black Eyed Peas), I Wanna Love You (Akon).
Describe your perfect fan.
My perfect fan is someone that goes absolutely crazy at my shows and just has a good time. Someone that loves every aspect of the music and what I do as an artist. They’ve got to share the music and help bring in new fans, of course, that’s always a plus! I enjoy knowing that a person (or fans) love my music, it makes me want to give them even more of myself! Your audience is one of the biggest inspirations.
How can potential fans gain access to your music?
They can visit: www.JCrushMusic.com and download the Free Single. We also have a FREE EP on the way in May! Fans can get in touch with me at my site as well, or at www.facebook.com/JCrushMusic or @JCrushMusic on Twitter. Thank you for this opportunity Robin and for your support! I’m so glad you like the music, there’s much more on the way!
