To say that the last few weeks have been a complete whirlwind of a downer would be an understatement. For those who follow me on any social media sites, you’re probably aware that my Mom passed away last week after battling dementia for several years. Before you ask – yes, I’m okay, although I’m still sad, which I’ve been told is perfectly normal. And at some point, I may write a nice, long post here about how Mom was a real life Wonder Woman.
But for now, I’m just going to keep distracting myself and doing things that make me happy. I’ve been planning my upcoming trip (I leave tomorrow) for Vancouver and Seattle for the past six months. I’ll be staying with a friend up there in Canada, a country I have never visited before. We might visit a few television series sets or we might just eat our weight in poutine, but whatever the case, I’m sure it will be fun. After that, I’m off to Seattle to attend Geek Girl Con.
For those also attending Geek Girl Con, you’ll find me dressed as Rose Tyler (Doctor Who) on Saturday and Emma Swan (Once Upon A Time) on Sunday. I have interviews already scheduled with both Jane Espenson (squee!) and cosplayer Chaka Cumberbatch. I have a full schedule for that entire weekend and can’t wait to meet up with other fangirls and get my geek on. After that, I’ll spend a few days in Seattle playing tourist. I really hope it doesn’t rain much.
So if the site seems a little quiet over tthis week, never fear. I’ll be back next week with lots of great new and original content. Until then, laterz!
