Jane Jensen announces deal with Activision to remake Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers.
I don’t always agree with the idea of remakes, but when I do, it’s usually for a project like this: Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is getting an update. Jane Jenson, the creator of the game, has announced that a new fresh version of the game will be released in 2014 for PC, Mac and iPad, thanks to a new partnership with Activision.
Although the game will feature new HD graphics, the storyline will remain the same. Which is good news, as the story is what really makes the original game so playable. Set in New Orleans, it revolves around a book owner, Gabriel Knight, who discovers that he is really something else: a hunter of the supernatural. It is a tale of voodoo magic and has a lot of great twists and turns and is perfect for modern audiences, who love supernatural thrillers.
The only downside of the remake is that Tim Curry will not be returning as the voice of Gabriel, but I’m sure the cast will be good. The game will also remain as a point-and-click adventure. There will, however, be a few new backgrounds and puzzles to solve during gameplay.
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers was just the first of three games set in the Gabriel Knight universe, and Jensen is hoping that the response is good so that maybe, just maybe, the story can continue. Oh, please, make it so!
