Lionhead announces Fable Anniversary for Xbox 360 later this year
Fable was once a fun series of games until it was destroyed by the Kinect (Fable: The Journey). Fortunately, Lionhead Studios has decided to re-release the original on the Xbox 360 this holiday season. Titled Fable Anniversary, this version will be a high-definition remake.
Lionhead teased this HD remake and put out word that it would be remastering Fable: The Lost Chapters, which is the expanded version of the first game. Released way back in 2005 for PC, Xbox and in 2008 for Mac, the roleplaying game launched a generation of fans of the series (that is, again, until Kinect killed it).
This new old Fable will have its graphics completely overhauled and will be using Unreal Engine 3. Expect it to look awesome. The game’s interface and controls are also being rebuilt, along with the save system, which will now be checkpoint-based. SmartGlass will also be integrated into Fable Anniversary, offering a second-screen with features like an in-game map.
I will admit that my Xbox 360 has been collecting dust since I bought a PS3, but this will get me to turn it back on.
