Need a way to discover new music or share your current musical selections with friends? Here are 5 great apps that are easy to use to help you accomplish your goals!

1. Shazam

How often is the title of a song on the tip of your tongue, but you can just never figure it out? Shazam is here to rescue you. Basically, when you hear a song that you want to identify, open up your Shazam and let it listen with you. After a few seconds of listening and comparing the music to its database, it will come back with the information it has about the song. This is a great way to instantly grab songs that you enjoy when you’re away from home. Shazam even gives you the option to purchase the song and share it with friends immediately upon identification.

2. SoundHound

This is much like Shazam, however, it has an extra little feature. If you have an earworm you stuck on your brain but can’t identify it, SoundHound lets you sing or hum the song yourself. It will then do its best to identify the song for you based off of what you have sung by comparing it to other users who have sung the same song. So don’t let those earworms get the best of you! Identify what they are with this great app!

3. Pandora

This was one of the original internet radio apps to ever hit the population. The music stations presented to you are tailored to your choice of artist and genre. The app lets you pick and choose what you want to listen to, then plugs in songs into your playlist that it thinks you would enjoy. This is a great way to discover new music!

4. Spotify

Spotify is a music streaming service that has exploded with popularity. This service has a library of more than 15 million songs and lets you stream music at 320 Kbps – quality that is notably higher than other services. There’s also a feature that lets you and friends customize playlists together. This is a great way to share music among your friends!

5. Grooveshark

This app lets you stream from preset stations, but also lets you create and edit your own playlists. You can also upload your music onto the Grooveshark library to make it accessible on your other devices, like your smart phone. Grooveshark makes it easy to build playlists and share them with your friends.
