Daedalic Announces Blackguards, Its First Turn-Based RPG
The first screenshots for Daedelic’s new title, Blackguards, have been officially released. The game will be a dark fantasy turn-based RPG, will be the development studio’s first non-adventure game.
In Blackguards, the player will take on the role of a convicted murderer who is traveling through Aventuria’s wild south. On his travails, he is accompanied by a variety of companions, including a thief named Niam (who is a half elf with a drug addiction) and a lecherous wizard named Zurbaran. While traveling, the group will have to face hordes of lethal creatures and partake in both major and minor quests. Players will be able to choose to play one of three character classes: warrior, wizard or hunter.
I was sold at “half elf with a drug addiction,” but that’s just me. Daedalic is promising strong storytelling in the title, as well as action-packed gameplay with tactical turn-based combat. RPG fans, this is a game to be looking out for.
Blackguards will be released for PC in Q3 of 2013. More information can be found on the game’s official website.
