Project Awakened Launches on Kickstarter and Promises Full Character Customization
For a game to feel fully immersive, character customization is a must. Many of us are tired of playing the same old average-looking white male (usually with brown hair and brown eyes) and prefer to create characters that appeal to us. For the first time in a modern AAA action game, Project Awakened is promising the opportunity to completely define your dream video game character. You’ll be able to determine everything from abilities to appearance and be able to play in a world that responds to your personal style.
Project Awakened is a superhero game in the vein of Infamous and Prototype, but the customization of the character you play is what sets it apart. Built on the Unreal Engine 4, the game is promising “scores of abilities and weapons that modify each other and seemingly limitless outfit and gear customization options.” Every choice and ability is left up to you. Your only limit is your imagination.
Set in a world after cold fusion has been stabilized and the Human Genome Project has been completed, Project Awakened features a world where super powers have been created by science and are actively sold on the black market. As the player in this world, you can play with your own powers, see the effects your abilities have on the universe and also take part in the game’s overall story arc that involves several different factions. Project Awakened asks the question: “What would you do in your world, if you were a god? ”
Yesterday, Phosphor Games, the development team behind Project Awakened, launched a Kickstarter project to fund the creation of the game. I don’t personally recommend Kickstarter projects unless I’ve backed them myself (Akaneiro: Demon Hunters, being a good example), so this is one I think of highly. I think Project Awakened is going to be an amazing game that we’ll all want to get our hands on, come August. You can donate to the Kickstarter project here. The $25 tier gets you the PC version of the game, which is a lot cheaper than the $60 price tag similar games carry.
