The BBC Announces Doctor Who Drama Cast
The cast for BBC’s drama about Doctor Who has officially been announced. Titled An Adventure of Space and Time, the drama will spotlight the creation of Doctor Who, including how the first episode, “An Unearthly Child” came to be. The drama is being commissioned as part of the 50th Anniversary of the series.
The role of William Hartnell, the first Doctor, will be portrayed by David Bradley. Bradley, most well-known for playing Filch in the Harry Potter films, has also already appeared in one episode of Doctor Who – you may remember him as the villain in “Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.”
In a recent interview, Bradley said, “William Hartnell was one of the finest character actors of our time and as a fan I want to make sure that I do him justice. I’m so looking forward to getting started.”
The role of Doctor Who producer Verity Lambert will be portrayed by Jessica Raine. Raine, who was recently seen in The Woman In Black, will also appear in an upcoming episode of Doctor Who.
Deadwood‘s Brian Cox will portray the head of BBC’s drama division with Sacha Dhawan as Waris Hussein, the director of the “The Unearthly Child.”
Now take a moment to let all of those talented names sink in. Because that is a serious amount of awesome, isn’t it?
Mark Gatiss will be the scriptwriter with Breaking Bad’s Terry McDonough directing.
