I have to admit that I was very disappointed to learn this week that 666 Park Avenue was getting the axe. I wasn’t surprised because it’s just not the right show for ABC and ABC’s track record for giving genre shows a chance is pretty dismal.
But there is some good news for fans of the series. The network is granting a final series finale episode to be filmed and aired to tie up any loose ends. As this rarely happens, I, for one, am very grateful. Let’s hope this is a trend. ABC also announced that Last Resort, another show that the network has canceled, will be getting a series finale.
So if you still haven’t watched 666 Park Avenue, you really are missing out on what is a fun horror series. It has a lot of great twists and turns. And if the news of the cancellation had deterred you, go ahead and get caught up now, because you will now not be left hanging at the end of the season.
This move turned out to be a great one for Syf’s Eureka, so let’s hope t.v. executives are finally learning that you just can’t leave us hanging. And with Netflix starting to churn out second seasons of canceled shows, who knows what could happen next to a series? Canceled just may not mean gone forever (Arrested Development anyone?).
