Attention all aspiring comic book writers and artists. ComiXology is now accepting self-published works. As a self-published author, I am obviously excited when I hear news like this.
ComiXology Submit, which launched yesterday, gives independent comic book creators a chance to sell their works in the digital ComiXology store, as long as it meets certain standards. Indie comic reviewers will take a look at each submission and determine if a self-published work lives up to a certain quality. Never fear, though, ComiXology CEO David Steinberger said, “It is important that these self-published books stand up to what’s already in the store… but the policies for reviewing submissions is not at all heavy-handed.”
ComiXology Submit is available now, with an invite (it’s in beta mode). But this will be a wonderful way for artists, especially those who rely on KickStarter and other crowdfunding platforms, to easily get their works out their to the public. All Submit creators will be able to set their own prices for their books and get 50% of the proceeds after fees.
So far, no release date for ComiXology Submit going public has been released, but you can sign up for more information on the official ComiXology Submit website.
