Yes, I criticize Syfy for much of their digital policy. But at the same time, I still support a lot of what they do. They have a lot of great programming and they do a great deal in reaching out to little bloggers like me and inviting us to some really cool events to promote their shows. They also hired me as a feature writer for DVICE, so I’ll admit I’m a little biased.
This latest announcement, though, is definitely getting a big un-biased thumbs-up from me. Syfy Digital is launching an original series exclusively online via their Syfy App on the Xbox 360.
On this Wednesday, October 1, all 20 episode of Vuguru’s sci-fi drama Nuclear Family will premiere on the Syfy app on Xbox LIVE. However, don’t fret if you’re not an Xbox LIVE user, the program will be added to Syfy.com, Hulu, VOD, Syfy’s mobile apps and Syfy’s Roku channel on October 15.
So what’s Nuclear Family about? Starring Corin Nemec (Stargate SG-1), Kinsey Packard (Sleeper Cell), Ray Wise (Mad Men) and Sharon Lawrence (Desperate Housewives), it tells the story of a family struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic society ruled by a savage group led by The Man.
Vuguru is the independent studio that developed and financed the series. Nuclear Family was created, written and directed by Kyle Rankin (ProjectGreenlight, The Battle of Shaker Heights, Infestation) who wrote and directed.
