Sam Raimi brings back the horror in “The Possession”

I don’t normally get excited about new horror movies coming out. After that awful experience with the over-hyped V/H/S, how could I? However, when someone like Sam Raimi makes a movie, I pay attention. After all, this is the man that gave us Bruce Campbell as a gun-toting monster fighter. How could he go wrong?

Raimi’s last horror flick, Drag Me To Hell, was one I really enjoyed. And so now that I have seen the trailer for his new film The Possession, I must admit that I’ll probably see this one in the theater.

Here is the movie’s official synposis:

“Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.”

And even better? It’s supposedly based on a true story.
