HBO’s Game of Thrones gets its Mance Rayder

I don’t usually post a lot of casting news, unless someone I’m extremely thrilled about is cast in something I’m extremely thrilled about. And this is just such a case. It has been announced that one of my favorite actors, Ciaran Hinds, will be portraying the King Beyond The Wall, Mance Rayder, in the next season of Game of Thrones.

Whoever is casting this series must be reading my mind. Because Hinds is perfect. Not only was he brilliant as Julius Caesar in HBO’s Rome, but he was also wonderful in the recent films John Carter and The Woman In Black. He is one of those actors I just love to watch.

Other new cast members joining Hinds on the series include Diana Rigg as Lady Olenna Tyrell, Mackenzie Crook as Orell, Clive Russell as Bryndon Tully, Nathalie Emannuel as Missandei, Kerry Ingram as Shireen Baratheon, Paul Kaye as Thoros of Myr, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Jojen Reed, Ellie Kendrick as Meera Reed, Richard Dormer as Beric Dondarrion, Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane, Philip McGinley as Anguy, Tara Fitzgerald as Selyse Baratheon, Tobias Menzies as Edmure Tully and Anton Lesser as Qyburn.
