Fringe gets picked up for a 5th and final season

If you’re a Fringe fan like I am, you’ve been holding your breath waiting for the announcement as to whether the show would be picked up by Fox for another season. Rumors were running rampant, including one that The CW might pick the series up, but we can all let out a big sigh of relief now. Yesterday, Fox announced that Fringe would get one final season on its network.

Producers of the series were prepared to have this current season be the final one, but we’re fortunate in that the story gets to continue for 13 more episodes. Fringe’s own Peter Bishop, Joshua Jackson has hinted that “the door to the 5th season” was previewed in last Friday’s episode, which took place in the near future and featured a battle between the Fringe team and the Observers. “If you watch that, you’ll have an understanding of where they want to take the series.”
