Some familiar faces return to American Horror Story

I’m already thrilled by the news coming out of the second season of American Horror Story. Not only are we getting a completely new story in a completely new town, but it has been confirmed that some actors from season 1 will be returning to new roles for season 2.

So who’s on board so far for season 2? Well, none other than fan and critic favorite Jessica Lange. But she won’t be returning as Constance, her character from season 1. Oh no, series creator Ryan Murphy has bigger things in store for her.

According to Murphy, “We have designed the second season of American Horror Story completely around her character,” said Murphy. “This will really be the Jessica Lange show, so I’m very excited about it. We are designing this amazing new opposite of the Constance character for her. She and I have spoken about different things. She has a lot of ideas, and has a lot of input into her character. She told me some things she has always wanted to play as an actress. She’s a great collaborator and a great friend.”

But that’s not all! One of our favorite Vulcans of all time, Zachary Quinto, has also signed up for season 2. And it’s being reported that he’ll have a lead role this time. Details on the character are forthcoming, but the general consensus is that he’ll be the nemesis to Lange’s character.

If you’re not excited for season 2 yet, what is wrong with you?

But wait! There’s more! Murphy also stated that both Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson will be putting in appearances in the new season of the show, also as different characters.

“Anybody could pop up at any time” and “Everybody will be playing the opposite of what they played,” Murphy teased.

Season 2 of American Horror Story will take place on the East Coast and involve an institution and will have an “equally terrifying but very different vibe” from the first season.

The second season of American Horror Story will air on FX in October.

I’m not sure how I feel about the story changing for season 2.  I was so invested in the story and the characters that I wanted to see how the story continues.  I guess the finale was just that, I closing of that chapter and onto another one, but I would have like to continue reading that book.  Anyway.. It’ll be interesting to see what that do and I’ll be watching.

I think there was only so much story they could tell, though. I honestly think this is a really smart move. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
