Stephen King has always stated that The Dark Tower series of novels contained a story that will forever haunt him until he is in his grave. Themes of these stories are echoed in his other stories and after the series ended, there was even a graphic novel prequel. Now, King has announced a new novel in the series, The Wind through the Keyhole, which takes place during the original The Dark Tower series.
The Wind Through the Keyhole will tell the story that happened during the time in the story after Roland, Jake, Eddie, Susannah, and Oy leave the Emerald City (the end of The Wizard and the Glass) and before they arrive on the outskirts of Calla Bryn (the beginning of The Wolves of the Calla).
According to King:
“It won’t tell you much that’s new about Roland and his friends, but there’s a lot none of us knew about Mid-World, both past and present. The novel is shorter than DT 2-7, but quite a bit longer than the first volume—call this one DT-4.5. It’s not going to change anybody’s life, but God, I had fun.”
Above is the newly-released cover art for the book. The Wind through the Keyhole will hit store book shelves on April 24, 2012.
So what do you think? Do you think The Dark Tower still has much story to tell? I’m on the fence here, but it has been some time since I’ve read those books.
