Stephen King announces “The Shining” Sequel

I had not heard that this was even in the works (even though it was originally mentioned in 2009), but apparently, Stephen King is going to give us a sequel to The Shining, titled Dr. Sleep.

According to King, the story involves psychic vampires. From Stephen King’s official website:

“It’s now official–Stephen is working on Dr. Sleep, the sequel to The Shining.  This weekend Steve read an excerpt from this at his appearance at George Mason University.  They have given us permission to post their taping of the event here on Steve’s site which we will do as soon as we receive the file.  Dr. Sleep’s plot includes a traveling group of vampires called The Tribe which is part of the passage he read from.”

King discusses Dr. Sleep in the video below:

And here’s an excerpt from the as-yet-unpublished work:

I’m not sure how I feel about this. I think “The Shining” stands on its own, but King said it best:  “I’ve always wondered what happened to that kid inThe Shining.” Me, too.

” includes a traveling group of vampires”

Hmm. I’ve wondered about the kid, too, but I’m thinking it’s taken a turn for the weirder lol Thanks for the info, though, I think I still look forward to reading it!

I’m sure I’ll read it, too. Supposedly, these are psychic vampires, so we’ll see. I’m so vampire’d out, though! LOL
