Although it was announced last October that Guillermo del Toro was working on bringing “The Incredible Hulk” to t.v. , I somehow missed the news. As of today, though, del Toro has stated that he is continuing onward with the project.
As the filmmaker told FEARnet:
“We turned in the outline to ABC about four weeks ago. And then we did a rewrite for ABC on the outline, and now we are lining up the pages.”
This would be the Hulk’s first live action appearance on television since 1990 and is targeted for a 2012 fall premiere.
The series is being co-developed with David Eick, who was executive producer of the most recent “Battlestar Galactica” remake. Eick will be writing the script for the new series.
FEARnet asked del Toro if the Hulk would be different in the series than we’ve previously seen him. The filmmaker replied, ““I think so. Or we wouldn’t be trying it. Actually, one of the points of this project early on with Marvel, was ‘We’re going to do this thing different, and here’s how. Are you interested?’ And they were.”
This certainly sounds promising, but I don’t think I can watch it. I grew up with the original “The Incredible Hulk” series and as a child, the Hulk gave me nightmares. To this day, I cannot watch anything related to him or bad dreams will ensue. I don’t know why the Hulk always terrified me so, but I am not looking forward to seeing him on t.v. again for that very reason. EEP!
Will you watch the new Hulk series?
